Anthropology is the study of humankind. It deals with our origins, biological characteristics, languages, ancient past; and with the beliefs and customs of all the world’s peoples and cultures. Anthropology has a holistic and broad approach that makes it unique among the sciences. Today, anthropologists work in universities, research centers, hospitals, social agencies, local government, community services and in many other settings.
Montclair State’s anthropology program offers students course sequences that will prepare you for graduate school and research and teaching careers, or for bringing anthropology into primary and secondary school classrooms. We will also provide you with the knowledge and opportunities to apply anthropological knowledge and skills to local community efforts to improve people’s lives.
