"On the Road With the Coccia Institute"

On February 16, 2010 the Coccia Insititute was present at Italian American Heritage Club meeting in Hunterdon County, New Jersey for the presentation of a donation from the Coccia Foundation to IACHC for youth programs.

  • In East Hanover, New Jersey

On February 13, 2010 the Coccia Institute was well represented at NJIT's Amici della Cultura Italiana's CARNEVALE at Ravello's in East Hanover, New Jersey as Dr. Mary Ann Re, Director of the Coccia Institute, was crowned queen of the Carnevale.

On December 10, 2009 the Coccia Institute was present at the Italian Cultural Institute of New York for a roundtable disscussion on Galileo with Dr. Eugenio Coccia and Professor Vittorio Canuto.

On October 29th to the 1st of November, 2009; the Coccia Insititute participated in the 42nd Annual American Italian Historical Association Conference.

"On February 7, 2009 many young Italian-Americans were present at Hofstra University to discuss the activities they organized in various universities to promote Italian culture.This was an event that the Coccia Foundation periodically hosts to facilitate contact and networking among Italian American college students and academic professors."

ITANJ (Italian Teachers Association of New Jersey)

Who are we?


A professional organization committed to helping teachers of Italian in New Jersey.
Italian Teachers Unite with AATI (American Association of Teachers of Italian) to form a new Chapter ITANJ.

Our Goals:

  • PROMOTE the Italian language and culture
  • MEET the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and the new NJ 100 Hour Professional Development Mandate by organizing workshops that deal with methodology, books and materials, technology and curriculum
  • ARRANGE "Corsi di Aggiornamento"
  • PROVIDE a quarterly newsletter that will keep teachers abreast of the latest events/programs in the tri-state area
  • INFORM Italian teachers of any job offerings in the region
  • RAISE funds for Student scholarships
  • ORGANIZE student get-togethers for cultural and social awareness
  • STRENGTHEN ties with Italian Educational Entities

Amici della Cultural Italiana

"Amici della Cultura Italiana" groups enjoy many benefits as a result of being associated with the Coccia Foundation. The Coccia Foundation recognizes the student members' commitment to the preservation of Italian culture and heritage in the United States by providing students with scholarship opportunities, matching funds for various initiatives and supporting study abroad programs.  In addition, the Coccia Foundation provides financial support for cultural events including culinary and arts programs, Italian-themed field trips, and Italian festivals.
