This Center for Applied Auditory Research is composed of
several research laboratories in which students and faculty work on applied
research projects. There are three laboratories in the center. Each
laboratory is furnished with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Each
of the laboratory facilities is used for both instruction and research.
Applied Psychoacoustics
Laboratory
The Applied Psychoacoustics
Laboratory is used to investigate sound localization and
binaural processing in children and adults with normal hearing and in
individuals with hearing loss. The research conducted in this lab has been
funded by the National Institutes of Health, Deafness Research Foundation,
National Organization for Hearing Research and a private donation from
Margaret Reed.
Auditory Electrophysiology
Laboratory
The Auditory Electrophysiology
Laboratory is used to investigate cortical event-related potentials.
Auditory Diagnosis and Rehabilitation
Laboratory
The Auditory Diagnosis and Rehabilitation Laboratory is used for investigating a broad
range of areas including: hearing aids, assistive listening devices, central auditory
processing disorders, otoacoustic emissions and video nystagmography. Aspects of research
completed in this laboratory have been funded by the Deafness Research Foundation.
