
The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders was first established in 1969, as the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology. From 1969 to the present, the Department has developed and offered programs that reflect growth, specialization, and commitment to helping professionals and individuals with speech, language, and hearing disorders. The Department's programs are designed to provide basic and advanced professional preparation, with a strong commitment to theoretical and research foundations of clinical intervention. The Department offers a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and doctoral degrees in Audiology.
The Clinical Doctoral program in Audiology (AuD) and Master of Arts (MA) program in Speech-Language Pathology at Montclair State University are accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA).
The mission of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is to prepare students to be audiologists
and speech-language pathologists who will be successful practitioners in their disciplines and meet requirements for
certification and licensure.
