- For Tuesday, November 9 -- remember, the assignment is the same: do
the second part of the assignment for November 5, above.
You may want to reread that
assignment, here.
Dear Students:
This past assignment was the first in which the vast majority of
the student assignments were not sent in until AFTER the class was
over.
This raises the question of whether in fact those who sent in the
essays after class actually listened to the lecture at all. I'm well
aware that, after attending a class devoted to a reading or talk, one
can do the assignment on that reading/talk reasonably convincingly
without actually having to do the reading or listen to the talk.
Accordingly, until further notice ALL assignments must be emailed
to me BEFORE class, and any assignments on which the time sent is
stamped AFTER the class has begun will receive no grade (i.e. F).
Please understand the reason -- that, for good in-class
discussion to take place, it is ESSENTIAL that EVERYONE have completed
the assignment BEFORE class.
- For Friday, November 12.
- For Tuesday, November 16.
Assignments on Franklin, M.I.A., or Mythmaking In America.
Final Assignments.
- For Tuesday, November 30.
NOTE: We will have a guest speaker today, Tuesday, November 30. He is
coming from Queens, New York for no pay, and taking a day off work to do so. He is coming
to speak to you because he thinks it is very important for veterans like himself to tell
young people about the Vietnam War. It is very important that everybody show
courtesy to him and attend class.
I'll count "double attendance." I want him to return in future years, and this will only happen
if he had a good experience.
- For Friday, December 3: reread the articles you
wrote on for Tuesday, November 30.
Be sure to print these articles out, AND, to
bring them to class with you on Friday, December 3
- For Tuesday, December 7.
- For Friday, December 10.
