Assignment on Giovanni Garbini, Chapter 1

     Please study, very carefully, this first chapter from Giovanni
Garbini's book History and Ideology in Ancient Israel. 

     Review your notes, from readings, assignments, and class
discussions, on the Origins of Christianity, especially from Bob
Price's talk and paper on "The Incredible Shrinking Son of Man", and
also Toby Lester's article "What Is The Koran?". 

     Write 300 words on the similarities and differences between
Garbini's discussion and these others which you have read concerning
the historical investigation of the origins of Christianity and of
Islam, and the historical criticism of the New Testament and the
Koran. Garbini, of course, is engaged in the historical criticism of
the Old Testament.
