The Internet for English Majors  ENGL 250 02

Schedule, Fall 1998

There are three basic kinds of skills to be learned in using the Internet for purposes of serious research:

After the first week of classes or, at the most, after the first two weeks, we will work on each of these tasks every week. I will cover the basic technical skills in class. You will hone these skills in carrying out assignments in which you practice applying these skills to actual research tasks.

Research Methods will be presented by the instructor and thoroughly discussed in class and in homework assignments. Without a sound introduction to the fundamentals of research methods, no research -- with or without the Internet -- will achieve its purpose: to discover the truth.

Here is the general schedule of topics we will cover, and in the order we will cover them. This schedule can be modified at any time according to the needs and abilities of the students. Check this page regularly!

(NOTE: In Table below, RM = "Research Methods." We'll discuss methods throughout, but spend special time on methodology during these weeks)
