The Creative Writing Concentration for English majors is currently being phased out. Students currently enrolled in the Creative Writing Concentration will be allowed to finish their concentration under the old guidelines, printed below:
The program requires four creative writing courses. These may be counted toward the completion of the 34-credit English major. They should be distributed as follows:
I. Creative Writing: Fiction, Poetry, Drama (ENWR 200) 3 credits
An introductory course required of all participants in the concentration. Students who can submit an acceptable portfolio of completed work may be excused from this requirement by the departmental creative writing faculty. Students excused from this requirement must still take twelve credits, to complete the concentration.
II. Any three of the following: 9 credits
TOTAL 12 credits
Note: because the English department has some new creative writing courses and cross-listings with other departments, here are some other courses that may count toward completion of the concentration:
ENWR 213: Introduction to Fiction Writing
ENWR 212: Introduction to Poetry Writing
ENWR 215: Beginning Drama Workshop
ENWR 318: Intermediate Drama Workshop
