The M.A. program entails 33 credits, including an M.A. thesis course ENGL 698 and two core courses, ENGL 605: Seminar in Literary Research and ENLT 514: Theoretical Approaches to Literature. Of the student’s remaining eight courses, four must be chosen from within a single concentration: American Literature, British Literature, International Literature, or Writing Studies. (Irish Literature is included in the British concentration.) The final four courses are electives. Full-time students usually complete the program in two years, while part-time students are given six. Courses are offered in the evenings, and meet once a week. Please note that ENGL 571: Teaching Methods does not count for credit in the M.A. program.
