The Latin American and Latino Studies Program (LALS) is an interdisciplinary program which offers an academic minor. At present, LALS includes several departments. The minor requirements consist of a minimum of 18 credits: an introductory course (LALS 201), which meets the Multicultural Awareness Requirement; a capstone course (LALS 401); and four other courses across disciplines such as Anthropology, Earth and Environmental Science, Economics and Finance, History, Legal Studies, Philosophy and Religion, Political Science, Psychology and Spanish. Students may major in any academic department of their choice. The LALS minor combines well with careers in business, economics, education, law, medicine, social sciences, literature and the arts. A lively series of cultural programs, films, forums and lectures provides insight on current issues and exposes students to a wide range of views on the topics discussed.
