CELEBRATION!

Romance Studies Colloquium
Oct. 14-16, 2004

The Hyatt Regency Jersey City is centrally located by both public transportation and private vehicle.  Newark Airport (NJ) is the closest airport, only 15 minutes from the hotel.

By car
For extensive directions by car, follow this link

Parking
Valet parking is available through the hotel ($31.05 overnight) or one can use the public garage located a two blocks west of the hotel, just off Christopher Columbus Drive ($15 overnight).

By taxi or shuttle from Newark, Laguardi, or JFK
Official taxi fare from Newark airport costs $35 + tip.  See the airport authority's tips on taking municipal yellow taxis.
There is an official at Newark airport at the head of the taxi stand who will tell you exactly how much it should cost.  Taxis are prohibitively expensive from Laguardia and JFK and should be avoided unless you can negotiate a good price with the driver before leaving.  If you would like to have a shuttle waiting for your flight, the Hyatt Regency recommends the State Shuttle Company for shuttle bus service from Newark Airport ($25 for 1 person, $33 for 2, $41 for 3, $49 for 4) or Laguardia and JFK ($60 for 1 person, $70 for 2, $80 for 3, $90 for 4).  You can book through the hotel concierge by e-mail or by phone (1-201-469-4780, ask for Richard or Craig) .  Be sure to mention the Romance Studies/Montclair State group.   You can also book directly through the State Shuttle Company.

By train from Newark Airport
Newark Airport features AirTran service to Newark Penn Station.  From here, one can take the PATH train to Exchange Place, directly across the street from the Hyatt.  To plan your itinerary and cacluate prices, consult the NJ Transit web site.

By bus from Newark Airport
Less expensive than the train, one can take bus 62 from outside the baggage claim of the airport to Newark Penn Station and transfer from there to the PATH train to Exchange Place.
To plan your itinerary and cacluate prices, consult the NJ Transit web site.

By subway from New York City
The PATH train runs all night ($1.50 each way) and the Exchange Place station is directly in front of the Hyatt.  In Manhattan, the direct line for Exchange Place leaves from the World Trade Center (connection with subway A,C,E,N, and R lines).  Elsewhere in Manhattan, stops can be found along Sixth Avenue at 9th, 14th, 23rd, and 33rd Streets (there is also a stop on Christopher St. and Hudson).  Change at Hoboken for service to Exchange Place.  For a map and more information see the PATH web site.

By ferry from New York City
New York Waterway runs ferry service to the Harborside ferry terminal in Jersey City.  One can take their free shuttle bus from a variety of locations in Manhattan to the ferry terminal.  See their web site for prices, details, and a map.
