Guidelines for Understanding and Evaluating Research Articles:

  1. What is the purpose of the study?
  2. How does this study relate to other research that has been done in this area (the literature review)? 
  3. What is the theoretical approach used by the researcher?
  4. What were the data collection procedures used?
  5. How were the data analyzed?
  6. What are the conclusions of this study?  Can these findings be generalized?
  7. What is the researcher's contribution to the field of SLA?
  8. What are the implications of the study for language learning and teaching practices?

Using the guidelines listed above, please prepare a one-page summary and two-page analysis of your article.  Summary and analysis should not exceed three, double-spaced pages.
