Harvest feat is draining Tax money from the people of Bloomfield and hurting the shops in the area.

It should be eliminated.

How much have the "volunteer" taxpayers of Bloomfield paid for the police particiapation in the annual Harvest Fests?

Just Curious

They say how much money they give to different functions from Harvest Fest, but don't pay back the taxpayers first. In essence the taxpayers are donating to the funtions whether they want to or not. Just once let them pay back all the money it costs us in overtime and whatever, and then see what they have leftover to donate in their name. We'll never get an accurate figure, because no one is left to ask for it.

To Just Curious , I hear you complaining about paying the police service to the Harvest Fest, well I have to ask you what would YOU do if there was a big problem of some happening at the Harvest Fest and no one was there to help???? Suppose you would be in the middle of a brawl of some sort and there was no one to help you. Does that make you feel comfortable with the complaint you have for having police coverage????

As a self-annointed taxpayer watchdog, how come you haven't seen to it that the Ampere Coalition return the TAXPAYER supplied walkie talkies?

We are all JUST CURIOUS as to why your outrage is selective and directed!

Either re-develop the Center or bring in a group who can. It is a disgrace and the laughingstock of Essex Cty. Forget bus-stops, the shops are crap. Buses go to Willowbrook, remember!

If Blfd. had a Master Plan, they would have a clue (the leadership), but there is no vision, and the people perish!

For the record, I did not post on this thread 8-1-99, above. If you have something to add please have the courtesy to use your own screen name, or no name if you wish, but please don't use mine. Thank you.

OK. Let's get rid of all special events in Bloomfield. They're all ripoffs of tax money. Let's start with the Memorial Day Parade. Think about all those cops and firemen who march and get paid for it (salary or comp time, it's still payment and still costs us). We'll have the Ampere Coalition march in their place. Shut down the ripoff.

The Ampere Coalition will look like a bunch of refugees going out for a lunch off the truck!

Maybe the idea of Bloomfield, New Jersey has outlived its usefulness and it is time for a change? Three smaller towns - North Bloomfield, Bloomfield, and Ampere?

Ideas anyone?

The firefighters do not get paid or compensated in any way shape or form for marching in the memorial day parade. This is done by our department to cultivate a spirit of civic pride with-in the community.

From the number of errors in the above post we can all see what type of supporters "Beach House" Jim had.

Must have gone to the Sholty/Arms School of Journalism.

Does anyone know how much the town has spent in support of the Harvest Fest? What happens to the fees that are collected from participants?

It is in the red by thousands each year. That's only the half of it the shop owners don't even support it. Take a look this year how many out of state venders are there to sell junk. They come from NY and Pennsylvania with their junk.

Lets all start with Memorial Day, Fourth of July, all the events the recreation Department puts on in the park and requires Police protection, according to you we should get rid of all that also, because that is taxpayer funded. It is amazing that out of the 50,000 people that share those two days with the VOLUNTEERS that put this event on and work hard all year to do are not complaining that their taxpayers money is being wasted. But Marty, who started this thread, and I believe lives in FLORIDA, has a complaint take to your own home town.

The Harvest Fest is a great event that I look forward to going to every year. I CERTAINLY FEEL SAFER KNOWING THAT THERE IS POLICE PROTECTION.

Let us talk about the $30,000 dollars the Ampere Coalition got from the Town for a three day Columbus Cellebration. Did you think we forgot what you asked for and got Marty. Let's go back to the minutes of what three years ago.

Give it a rest.
